CATO

CATO

CATO.

Catastrophe At Take Off.
or
Catastrophic Take Off.

Depends on who you believe, but no matter what, we can call it:

Uncontained engine failure.

The results of an aged D12 engine; it was no longer a rocket motor, it was just a big firecracker.

View from the business end. I’ve already removed the most aft portion of the destroyed motor mount, and have started cutting in to the epoxy that held the mount in place. You can see the shattered remnants of the motor mount tube.
